The Kona Raw Pet Food Co-op receives weekly deliveries of local grass-fed beef (no hormones, no antibiotics, pasture raised) from Hawaii Beef Producers. Most meat is USDA-inspected and certified for human, as well as pet, consumption. A few items are USDA-inspected for heath but not certified for human consumption. These items are lists as Pet Food Only.
Units in which you may order are specified for each item. Most items can be ordered by the pound. Some items have larger units that must be used to order. To reduce the amount of work and time volunteers are required to spend in cutting and assembling orders, we have moved to a less onerous way of buying and packaging these items. Most come to the co-op in bag units that are specified for each item.
If you have small pets, you may think that the units are too large to be practical for you. Our suggestion is that you have more freezer space to divide the bulk items into smaller packages and freeze them, or you find others with small pets with whom to share bulk items, such as liver, heart, kidneys,and skirt meat. If asked, I can probably find some other owners with small pets with whom you could share an order.
